As Christians, we live in relationship ” in community ” with God and with each other. But it doesn ” “t stop there. We are also called to go out into the world to share God ” “s love with others. As Pope Francis writes in The Joy of the Gospel, we are missionary disciples! In this joyful and inspiring book, Archbishop Paul-Andr F Durocher offers a series of dynamic talks on what being an outward-bound church looks and feels like. He begins by shining a light on the sacraments of baptism and confirmation ” how each of us is called by God and sent in his name to proclaim the good news. Next, he illustrates how the Church can be understood in this same framework. Finally, he presents key elements of a renewed vision for our Christian communities, especially parishes. Reflecting on two parish activities ” the annual picnic and daily Mass ” he suggests concrete ways to implement this faith-filled vision. Paul-Andr F Durocher is Archbishop of Gatineau, Quebec.
