St. Kevin is the patron saint of blackbirds and Ireland. There are many legends about Saint Kevin, due to the fact that the details of his life are relatively unknown. He founded a monastery at Glendalough and became a hermit after its success. Saint Kevin is often depicted with animals because many tales show his closeness to them.
