About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The dove has been the primary symbol of the Holy Spirit since the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River, when the Holy Spirit descended upon Him “like a dove” (Matthew 3:16). This powerful image represents the Holy Spirit’s gentle yet transformative presence in our lives.

The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit

This medal serves as a reminder of the seven gifts bestowed upon us through the Holy Spirit, especially strengthened at Confirmation:

• Wisdom
• Understanding
• Counsel (Right Judgment)
• Fortitude (Courage)
• Knowledge
• Piety (Reverence)
• Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe)

Sacramental Significance

Confirmation: The Holy Spirit medal is the quintessential Confirmation gift, commemorating the moment when the confirmand is sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened to live as a witness to Christ.

Baptism: At Baptism, we first receive the Holy Spirit, making this medal a meaningful keepsake for this foundational sacrament.

RCIA: Perfect for those entering the Catholic Church, celebrating their reception of the Holy Spirit through the sacraments of initiation.

Perfect Gift For

Ideal for Confirmation (the most traditional occasion), Baptism, RCIA completion, Pentecost Sunday, the birth of a new baby (welcoming new life and the breath of the Spirit), priest or deacon ordinations, religious profession, or any occasion celebrating the Holy Spirit’s presence and gifts in someone’s life.

Symbolism

The descending dove represents:

• The Holy Spirit’s descent at Jesus’ baptism

• Divine inspiration and guidance
• The breath of God bringing life
• The Paraclete (Advocate and Comforter)
