Devotional Meaning:
Our Lady of the Smiles commemorates a miraculous healing experienced by St. Thrse of Lisieux (the Little Flower) when she was a child. Gravely ill and near death, young Thrse saw a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary smile at her, and she was instantly cured. This tender devotion emphasizes Mary’s maternal love, her joy in caring for her children, and her power to heal both body and soul. Our Lady of the Smiles is especially beloved by families with sick children, those seeking healing, and devotees of St. Thrse.
