In 1830, St. Catherine Labour was visited by an apparition of the Blessed Virgin, who showed her the front and the back of a medal. St Catherine was told to have this medal struck in Mary’s honor. The official name is ‘The Medal of the Immaculate Conception’ and it is popularly known as the Miraculous medal. This dainty Miraculous Medal is placed on a fleur-de-lis background, with hand-applied blue enamel color.
