The New American Catechism (No. 0) from Catholic Book Publishing uses the question-and-answer method to emphasize the essential elements of Catholic doctrine in an orderly way and thus help young children better to retain and understand them. Written for children in Grades 1 and 2 (First Communion preparation), this book relies upon the official U.S. Bishops’ document Basic Teachings for Catholic Education, the teachings of Vatican II, and Scripture to provide an explanation of the Catholic Faith. This economical book is printed in large type, making it user-friendly to young children, and is richly illustrated.
