VA317211655548St Lawrence Medal

St. Lawrence is the patron saint of chefs and comedians. Lawrence was the archdeacon and treasurer of the Church during a time when practicing the Faith was banned. When his superiors were captured, he took the wealth of the Church and dispersed it among the poor. At his execution, he was asked by the authorities to hand over the riches of the Church, so he brought a large number of Romes poor with him.

This Saint Lawrence necklace has an image of the saint holding a cross, bible and mayrter’s palm. He is leaning against a woven lattice.

Saint Lawrence was a good man. He held an important role in the church where he was responsible for the Church’s assets. When the Romans demanded he turn over the Church’s assets he quickly worked to redistribute these things to the poor and needy. The Romans were furious with Lawrence for his actions and he was martyred.
